Course description
Java programming language is a matured, actively-maintained and constantly-improving general-purpose programming tool. Since the mid-nineties of the last century, it has been the favorite programming language of both industry and academia. Its recent popularity is due to the fact that Java was selected as the programming language of choice for many contemporary concepts and applications, including Android OS, the Internet of Things, cloud services, NoSQL database management systems, etc.
Among many features of Java programming language, probably the most important one is Java suitability for writing programs in the object-oriented fashion. Object-oriented programming (OOP) has been the dominant programming paradigm over more than three decades because of its superior modeling of problem domains, modularity of concepts, reusability of code, and clear support for all other needs of professional programmers working on the development of large applications.
This is an extensive introductory course that provides students with deep understanding of the OOP concepts and their implementation in Java programming language. Students are not expected to have any previous programming experience, but they need to be exceptionally committed to learning the topics studied throughout the course and, above all, need to be able to understand and think over a multitude of abstract concepts.
Meeting schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM starting from November 23rd 2015.
